Important distinction: This policy covers two things: the Letterful app (what your child uses on iPad) and the Letterful website (letterful.app, what you're reading now). They have very different privacy rules. The app collects nothing. The website uses basic analytics. We spell out both below.

Part 1: The Letterful App (iPad)

Our Commitment to Your Family's Privacy

Letterful is designed for children. We take that responsibility seriously. The app was built with a simple privacy philosophy: we don't collect, store, or transmit any data from you or your child. Period.

Information the App Collects

None. The Letterful app does not collect any personal information, usage data, analytics, or device identifiers. Specifically:

  • No personal information (names, emails, photos, or contact details)
  • No usage analytics or tracking of any kind
  • No device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprinting
  • No location data
  • No cookies or similar tracking technologies
  • No third-party analytics SDKs (no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Mixpanel, nothing)

Data Storage

All app data, including any progress your child makes while using Letterful, is stored locally on your device only. This data never leaves your iPad. If you delete the app, this local data is deleted with it.

Third-Party Services in the App

The Letterful app does not integrate with any third-party services. There are no ads, no social media integrations, no external links within the app, and no SDKs that transmit data to outside parties.

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Letterful is designed for use by children under 13 and fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Apple's App Store guidelines for kids' apps.

  • We do not collect personal information from children (or anyone) through the app
  • We do not require account creation or registration
  • We do not contain advertisements
  • We do not contain in-app purchases
  • We do not link out to external websites or apps from within the app
  • We do not include any social features or user-generated content

Internet Connectivity

The Letterful app does not require an internet connection to function. It works entirely offline after download.

Photographs, Camera, and Microphone

The Letterful app does not access your device's camera, microphone, photo library, or any other hardware sensors beyond the touchscreen.

Part 2: The Letterful Website (letterful.app)

Website Analytics

The Letterful website uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site, which pages they view, and where our traffic comes from. This is standard business practice for measuring the reach of our website and understanding our audience at a general level.

What Google Analytics collects on this website:

  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • General geographic region (country or city level, not precise location)
  • Referral source (how you found us)
  • Device type and browser (e.g., "Safari on iPad")
  • Anonymous, aggregated usage patterns

What Google Analytics does NOT do on this website:

  • No advertising or remarketing profiles are built from your visit
  • No personal identification (we don't know your name, email, or identity)
  • No cross-site tracking or behavioral targeting
  • No data is shared with advertisers or sold to third parties
  • No data is used to target you with ads anywhere

We use this data the same way any small business counts foot traffic: to know whether anyone is showing up and what they're interested in. That's it.

Cookies on This Website

Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors and sessions. These are standard analytical cookies. They do not identify you personally and are not used for advertising. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

The App and Website Are Separate

To be completely clear: the website analytics described above apply only to this website. The Letterful iPad app has zero analytics, zero cookies, zero tracking, and zero network requests. Your child's experience inside the app is entirely private and fully offline.

General

Changes to This Policy

If we change this privacy policy, we will update this page with the new policy and the date of the change. Our commitment to collecting zero data in the app is foundational to Letterful and is unlikely to change. If it ever does, we will make that change clear and prominent.
